WHAT IS IT?
Laser hair removal is a safe and effective way to remove unwanted hair from the face and body, a common problem for both men and women. Lasers treat the areas of unwanted hair with minimal discomfort and fewer complications that other hair reduction methods.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Our estheticians use lasers and light sources to safely and effectively treat large and small areas of unwanted hair. The lasers are equipped with cooling devices that reduce the discomfort from the laser light as well as protect the top layer of skin from excessive heating or potential changes in pigmentation during the process. Those lasers send specific concentrated beams of light through the skin that are absorbed by the melanin (dark) pigment present in the hair follicle shafts.
WHAT OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE?
You can have laser hair removal done on any of the areas listed below. You can purchase single treatment sessions or save money by purchasing an unlimited package.
- Bikini line
- Full Body
- Lip + Chin
- Widow's Peak
HOW OFTEN DO I NEED IT?
Because hair grows in cycles, repeated treatments are necessary to destroy the hair follicles. In general, three or more treatments are required to achieve permanent hair growth reduction. You can expect about a 10-25% reduction in hair grown with each treatment. Any regrowth following a session tends to be lighter and finer in texture.
AM I A CANDIDATE?
Darker hair responds best to laser hair removal. Light colored hair is least responsive. Not sure if laser hair removal would work on you? Stop in for a free consultation before making a commitment.
Prior to your appointment, be sure to avoid tanning or using sunless tanners, and make sure to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect your skin. You should also shave or tweeze the area being treated before your appointment.
ARE THERE SIDE EFFECTS?
The most common side effects include discomfort, swelling and redness that can last one to three days. Other possible side effects include blistering, herpes simplex outbreaks, bacterial infections and temporary skin lightening or darkening (especially in patients with skin of color or those with tans).
